BRUSHCUTTER SAFETY TRAINING (Operate Trimmer, Brushcutter)

Training Delivery:

Training and assessments conducted by A Plus Training Solutions, holder of Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116, TAE40110 & TAA40104)

Purpose
Provide participants with the knowledge and skill to undertake brushcutting operations safely, perform maintenance tasks correctly and apply recommended cutting techniques as per manufacturers recommendation and site requirements

Recognition of Training

A Certificate of Competency and /or Verification of Competency (VOC) will be issued to applicants who meet the assessment criteria required for this competency. This may require supplementary evidence in the form of a report from a suitable supervisor, or further assessment.

Location

Courses will where practicable be conducted on client's premises. Sufficient scrub will be needed for each operator to use a full tank of fuel in the brushcutter. If sufficient area or venue is not available, a venue and practical activity site may be organised at additional cost.

Duration

1/2 - 1 day (1/2 day for most participants)
More time may be needed for novice operators with little or no prior brushcutting experience.

Course Fees:

The courses will be run in groups of 6 to 10 participants at a cost of:

$275.00 (GST Free) per head: 1/2 day course.

Individuals or smaller groups should contact us, as we may be able to fit you into a larger group. Otherwise fees will be negotiated.

A surcharge may apply for any work on weekends or public holidays

Assessment

Supervised written and/or verbal and practical assessment.

Equipment

Participants will need to wear their own protective boots and hi-vis shirt. All other required equipment and training notes are provided for participant's use.

In order to increase training relevance and operator comfort, trainees are encouraged to use any or all their own equipment if practicable.

This includes:

  • Brushcutter, Harness, Trimmer cord, blades, fuel and oil
  • Safety equipment
  • - Approved eye protection (safety glasses, goggles or perspex visor)
  • - Hearing protection (ear plugs or ear muffs)
  • - Safety boots and over-socks (recommended)
  • - Harness (Handle bar machines)
  • - Gloves (where applicable)
  • - Sunscreen
  • - Protective leg protection, gators or chaps
  • - High visibility clothing (where applicable)

Demonstration of Competence:

From experience, we find that people have different levels of ability and experience when it comes to handling machinery. If a person, due to a lack of experience, requires more time to develop their skills, more time for practical application may be needed increase their skills up to a competent level.

Personal Requirements:

Depending on location of the training, and availability of take away food outlets, it is advisable for trainees to bring their own food and plenty of drinking water.
